(Screengrab - Charismanews.com) This post is in response to a statement made by the New York Times in its editorial of Jan. 13th, 2015, God, Gays and the Atlanta Fire Department .* In the editorial a statement is made that made me cringe. The statement is as follows: "His [Recently fired, Atlanta Fire Chief Cochran] position as a high-level public servant makes his remarks especially problematic, and requires that he be held to a different standard." Whose higher standard is the New York Times referring to? Where is the requirement officially stating, "all high level public servants are required to live under the federal or state standard [insert standard] which states, 'anyone in a public position is barred from expressing publicly or privately his/her private religious views in any form of media whatsoever'" or something legal to that effect.
