In the Bible there are several sexual sins that are categorized under the term,"Sexual Immorality." Not the least of these is, "Fornication." However fornication has become an outdated, and in many places, the acceptable sin in the late twentieth and twenty-first centuries. As a matter of fact, many do not even know what the term "fornication" means. Since the advent of the modern Bible translation, many have never heard of it. This article focuses on what the Scripture says about this out-of-control acceptable sin. Fornication is mentioned thirty-six times in the Bible (MT), thirty-two times in the New Testament. In almost all modern translations the word has been substituted with, "sexual immorality" and has come to mean any number of sexual sins. God had commissioned Jeremiah to announce that while it was still twilight they needed to seek God in repentance . "Jesus really teaches you to hate people." I once saw this quoted online and I had to shake my head because of the ignorance, not in a condescending manner but in a mode of sadness. Like all quotes that similarly lambast Jesus and Christians, most of them are off the cuff and stated without real spiritual knowledge and wisdom of the Scripture. I can say this in sincerity because of the transformation that occurred in my own life, and because of the Scriptural precedent for it. Proverbs 4:23 reminds us to, "Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life." (NKJV) I love the castle illustration that Charles Spurgeon used in his sermon, "As Thy Days, So Shall Thy Strength Be." At one point in the sermon he speaks of the crafty devil and how he knows the backdoor to a man’s heart. In pointing out how some say they are able to walk a pure life without sin, he clearly warns to be careful with that statement. He wrote:  "'Satan is very crafty; he knows the ins and outs of manhood. The Matthew Henry commentary published in 1706, of which the great evangelist George Whitfield read completely, four times, the last time on his knees, penned the following concerning sin that plagues the life of the lost:  Also the terrors of conscience disturbed their enjoyments. God hath said it, and all the world cannot unsay it, That there is no peace to those who allow themselves in any sin. Besides the rise of crime and the apathy and downright hatred toward Christianity each day, how can we measure how sin has lost its sting? According to some statistics, 340,500 people are born each day and only 3-4 % of those (10,000) become Christian.** It does not take a rocket scientist to see that according to those stats 1 in 36 becomes Christian each day. Why? One big factor, people no longer fear God. They mock Christians and deride their faith, so much so, that even the true believers are often hindered from sharing their faith because of fear. This is a form of persecution and it often drives believers to gather together and separate themselves from the unbelieving. I find myself rejoicing and free in mind and spirit when I meet with a brother or sister in Christ who shares the same hope in Christ as I. But alas, the moral down slide continues.
