Men! When will we quit making our the women and children suffer? |
*****
Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways
acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. Do not be wise in
your own eyes; Fear the LORD and depart from evil. It will be health to your
flesh, And strength to your bones.
Proverbs 3:5-8 (NKJV)
Proverbs 3:5-8 (NKJV)

Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. (Genesis 2:24)
Surprise
Statistics out just recently seem to suggest that going God's way will also keep you out of poverty. Former President Clinton adviser, William Galston, recently concluded that the number one cause of poverty in America today is the breakdown of marriage. Really? From his research he made this statement:
"You need only do three things in this country to avoid poverty—finish high school, marry before having a child, and marry after the age of 20. Only 8 percent of the families who do this are poor; 79 percent of those who fail to do this are poor."2
Kirby Anderson of Point of View commentary fame, quoted the same statistics and added:
He (Galston) has found that only 8 percent of people who do those three things are poor. Put another way, young people who follow these three simple rules have a 92 percent chance of staying above the poverty line. By contrast, a young person who breaks just one of these rules, has a 79 percent chance of ending up below the poverty line.
I think you can see how much marriage and out of wedlock childbirth are such strong predictors of poverty. Obviously, this country has its share of entrenched, generational poverty. But it also shows how much lifestyle choices contribute to poverty. 3
God has always known what is best for mankind. The Bible bears this out, but because of the hardness of our hearts we insist on doing things our way! Will we ever learn? Man without God is like a ship without a rudder; the further you run out to sea the further you realize your your inability to make things happen without Him. God is our guide and His way is perfect. If only we would humble ourselves and realize just how much we need Him.
For God (the Father) so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son (Jesus as the substitutionary sacrifice on the cross for our sin), that whoever believes in Him (has faith in, trusts in, and looks to Him at all times and in every way) should not perish (go to hell) but have everlasting life (forever exist in a heavenly home). (John 3:16) (emphasis and commentary mine)
Men, it's never to late to grow up and face your fears. Our God is the Lord of all new beginnings. So what are you waiting for? Are the idols of "singleness" robbing you of a good life? I repeat:
Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones.
