Remaining in God's Word...
Excerpt from "Those Who are Wise Will Shine"
Remain in God’s Word God knew what would happen to society if they left Him
out. You will find it a topic in the Redemptive Thread. He knew if we lived by
our own rules and walked in our wisdom we would destroy ourselves. Isaiah the
prophet decried in warning to all who desire self-sufficiency in the following
manner:
Until the Lord returns at the end of the age, the message is
still the same. Walking in the light of our own presumptions will only lead us
to destruction. Thankfully, God has not left us without solid direction. The
light of His instruction leads to the true blessing we all seek if we respond
to it positively.
For instance, if we look into how He dealt with Israel His
chosen, He was always giving and doing. He often let trouble come as a
discipline to get them to realize in their pain they needed to turn back to
Him, and then He would come through with blessing. In Dt. 6:10ff He states just
as much:
He gave to them a life they did not lift a hand to build.
Then He warned them not to forget Him. The work of God, via Christ on the
cross, is another gift He offers to all, and again we have done nothing to
deserve it. His salvation comes to us, not at our behest, but the Fathers (John
6:44). We read in His written Word all about His free offer and through the
revealing of this truth, the Father reasons with us; if we respond positively,
He then draws us to Himself. He too, warns us of the same. We must not forget
Him.
Yet what has happened today is somewhere in our not too
distant past the Church, and thus America, in many places, has forgotten Him.
We have pushed Him aside and elected our own King, we have sown to the wind and
reaped the whirlwind (Hos. 8:7). So here, we are today, as it was in the days
of Noah….
