I am writing this today in remembrance of all the past and soon-to-be heroes that have always risen whenever disaster has stricken in America. Each week, sometimes daily, these men, women, and children rise up to expend their energies to be there for all of those in need. The past few weeks have seen tragedy after tragedy from the east to the west, yet still, these untiring servants ride out the tide. In America we hurt when others hurt and we lend a hand when others need one. We are not perfect, and we all will fail at one time or another, but when disaster strikes, those failures we often dwell upon, like light scattering the darkness, seem to also scatter unselfishly from our minds.
In America, we know that we must somehow do what we can even if it means giving up all we have. It is to all of you, who know sorrow and fear when you see it and recognize a heart in distress by the sounds of the echo, Thank You! From the hearts of all those who cannot repay, a resounding Thank You again rings out. From the mother who will scream frantically to find her lost child we say Thank You! From the Husband who has cried all the way home from work, wondering if his wife and children are alright, we say Thank You! From the cries of the wandering child screaming "I want my Mommy," we say Thank You! From the fearful heart of the Senior Citizen wondering if his/her spouse has survived, we say, Thank You!
No words can faithfully convey what it means to lend a helping hand, a listening ear, or a heartfelt prayer. The meals, clothing, medications, and toys for the children in these times of need are the mainstay of who you show we are in America.
It is all of you that make America great and I can honestly say, for all of these, Thank You. For I know in their hearts they are saying it too, even if it is in the form of a whisper
God Bless!
